January 2015

The 2014 Spirit Campaign was again a great success for the many non-profits in Custer County and Excellence in Education. Through hard work of our committee members working on mailings and getting the word out, Ex in Ed received 7,900.00, through this season’s Spirit Campaign.   We would like to thank everyone who donated to this wonderful fundraising opportunity.  The Custer County Community supports our students and this school and it shows.  Thank you.  We would also like to extend a huge thanks to the Wet Mountain Valley Community Foundation for making this possible.

Look for our next fundraising opportunity- our 7th annual Spring Celebration Dinner scheduled for May 28th at the Maytag Ranch.

October 2014- Committee and staff changes

With September bringing on new members, October said goodbye to several.  Becky Thompson and Sarah Woods resigned from Ex in Ed, both citing their personal lives and businesses were very busy.   Becky provided the media expertise  for several promotional videos Ex in Ed produced for fundraising efforts the past several years, and Sarah was our fundraiser extraordinaire.  Sarah had been with the committee for six years.  We will miss their fabulous insight and help.

Voice coordinator Jacque Keller also resigned this October from the school’s volunteer program coordinator position.  Jacque is also pursuing some entrepreneurial endeavors.  Jacque really brought community volunteers into the school through our voice program.  Her fun energetic personality will be missed.  We wish her amazing success.  The school will be hiring a replacement soon.

September 2014- IT program receives funding

The school has been looking to update its IT program for several years.  The objective of the new curriculum  was to prepare students for college and the workforce with key skills needed in today’s digital society.  Thanks to several large donors, $20,000 was raised.  The IT program was able to revamp the entire program from 20 new computers to new classroom furniture to fit computer stations.  The new program is two fold, with the first section for those needing basic skills, with the advance course offering  website building to programming.  The students are thrilled.  Ex in Ed was glad to help provide the avenue for the funding.  Go High School!

September 2014

Three new members join Excellence in Education, Judy Keyes, Lissa Miller, and Betsy Banks.  all bring teaching experience to the committee.  Ex in Ed is thrilled to have them and look forward to a fun a productive school year with the new energy the trio brings.

June 2014

Our Annual Spring Celebration Dinner  May 21st was a grand success.   The Maytag Ranch Cookhouse is a glorious venue with spectacular vistas.  Even more spectacular were the wonderful attendees that were so generous and helped us raise right at $6,000.00 for the Custer County School District.   This year’s proceeds purchased the 9th/10th grade Geometry Math Books

May 7, 2014

Jacque Keller, VOICE Coordinator, and Excellence in Education members celebrated and thanked the many community volunteers at our “THANK YOU BASH” on May 7, 2014.  Turnout was wonderful!

Community Volunteer hours are well over 700 for this school year.

Entertainment was provided by Custer County students and Jacque’s son  Zach with his amazing handcrafted drums!

Thank you volunteers!
